I love painting big!

This 4ft x 2ft painting of SHANKLIN CHINE BEACH was a pleasure to do.
Although only 10 miles away from where I live, I hadnt been down here for a few years. I had a lovely afternoon taking photos and drawing a few quick sketches.

This beach held a lot of memories for my client, having grown up in Shanklin but now living on the mainland.
We discussed colours to a certain extent but he was happy to give me free rein. Although there is a certain amount of planning involved with composition and colours, I dont spend too much time on this in the early stages, as I find it all comes together as Im going along.

He was very happy with the result and so was I.
It came together smoothly with a good balance of colours.
